To complement the implementation of CIS to rural schools, we also propose for the deployment of Intel Classmate PC (CMPC) devices to the
proposed schools.
The Intel CMPC program provides purpose-built machines designed by Intel Corporation to offer computing mobility to our children. The Intel
CMPC devices are tailored to suit students to equip them with the necessary skills to compete in a technologically-driven society.
We started working closely with Intel Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. to provide CMPC devices to schools in rural, underserved areas in Sarawak in early 2009. The collaboration with Intel was initiated to address the limited availability of tools and resources in rural and underserved schools in the State. To date, we have successfully deployed almost 150 CMPC devices to rural and underserved schools and are in the process of deploying at least 300 CMPC devices in the next phase.
