THE SIGNING OF MOU BETWEEN DANAWA RESOURCES AND INDOSAT OOREDOO, TELEKOM MALAYSIA AND TRANS HYBRID COMMUNICATIONS

MIRI : Trans Nusantara Regional Fibre Optic Network is a high speed internet fibre optic network connecting Sarawak, Indonesia and Brunei to the rest of the world. These MoUs are in correlation with the recently concluded IDECS conference in Kuching, in which, the government of Sarawak is very eager in promoting the growth of digital economy in the state. Amongst others, the Chief Minister in his closing speech, announced the setting up of Northern and Southern internet gateways via Brunei and Indonesia. To answer that clarion call by the Chief Minister, the collaborations between Danawa Resources Sdn Bhd and their partner companies in this MoUs are inked.

The four MoUs signed was witnessed by Chief Minister YAB Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg together with State Secretary YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi, Minister of Public Utilities YB Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi anak Utom and various invited guests.

The MoU between Danawa Resources and Telekom Malaysia Berhad, PT INDOSAT Tbk and PT Trans Hybrid Communication is on the collaboration in establishing a gateway for regional connectivity from Indonesia through Sarawak and Brunei to Hong Kong, China and USA. This collaboration would also provide cross border interconnectivity infrastructure and services at the respective borders in Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. Abdul Rahman Mohd Sepawie, Managing Director of Danawa Resources, Amar Huzaimi Bin Md Deris, VP, Carrier Sales TM Global & Wholesale, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Mr. Budiharto, Group Head Business Product of PT INDOSAT Ooredoo and Mr. Fidelis Tedja Surya, President Director of PT Trans Hybrid Communication representing their organizations together signed the MoU which hopes to see more future collaborations together.

The second MoU between Danawa Resources and; PT Voksel Elektrik Tbk and PT Trans Hybrid Communication is on the collaboration to construct submarine cables from China to Sarawak; Malaysia onwards to Indonesia.

Danawa Resources and Connectloud signed the third MoU. Danawa Resources plans in establishing Data Centres or equivalent facilities to host the cloud platform , provide network connectivity and internet access for the cloud platform engine and jointly sees to explore, build and develop the cloud platform market within Sarawak and in future, the entirety of Malaysia. Danawa Resources is to provide services and their experience in terms of technical knowledge, skills, resources and equipment in relation to their project. Connectloud shall provide the licence of Connectloud’s Hyperconverged Cloud Software for deployment in Danawa’s prepared data centres earmarked for their projects in Sarawak.

The MoU signed with Telekom Malaysia Berhad looks into providing international gateway services for the incoming and outgoing traffic either terminating or transiting Sarawak which will provide commercial benefits to both local and regional industries. This international access to and from Sarawak would be through various means including the border terrestrial network, satellite networks, and domestic and international submarine cable systems.

The signings of the MoUs indicates a positive step forward in realizing the state’s initiative in its economic development and into developing the digital economy of Sarawak.
